The combination of those sliders determines your Mii's unique personality type — and that personality affects everything from how they talk, move, interact with other islanders, and even what kind of jobs they prefer. The personality system in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is based on five sliders, each ranging from 1 to 8. You set these sliders when creating a Mii character in Mii Maker, and they cannot be changed after the Mii is imported to your island. Here is what each slider controls:

The personality mechanics in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream are identical between the EU and US versions of the game. The underlying slider math is the same, and the same 16 personality types exist in both regions. The only difference is the names used to describe each personality. For example, what the EU version calls "Adventurer" is labelled "Go-Getter" in the US version, "Hot-Blooded" becomes "Dynamo," and "Headstrong" becomes "Maverick." The Reserved group (Patient/Strategist, Perfectionist, Introvert/Observer, Thinker) has nearly identical names across both regions, with only minor label differences.
Does the Normal/Quirky slider affect personality?
No. The 5th slider (Normal ↔ Quirky) is purely cosmetic in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Only the first four sliders — Movement, Speech, Energy, and Thinking — determine the personality type. Our calculator correctly shows this slider but does not include it in the personality calculation.
Can I change a Mii's personality after importing them?
No. Personality sliders are set in Mii Maker before importing the Mii to your island and cannot be changed afterwards. This is why planning with our calculator before creating your Miis is so valuable!
